My idea of sport generally involves fast cars, here are a selction of photos I've taken since 2002 on World Rally Championship events in Great Britain and Germany. This type of photography has its own set of skills, and has taken a little time to master; typically people associate high shutter speed and fast film with motor sports - the fast film might be true but shutter speeds need to be in the mid ranges for most shots so as not to completely freeze the action.

Until 2007 I had real difficulty using a digital camera for this type of shot, the ones I used up to that point took too long to "settle" and then delay taking the shot slightly when you fire the trigger. Of the first set only one of these is taken on a digital camera - see if you can spot which one ...

Tech bits: Canon EOS 300 / Canon 80-300 USM lens / Kodak and Fuji 400 & 800 ISO print film
[Kodak Easyshare Dx6490 4.0 MPixel digital]

In 2007 however I was given a Canon EOS350D - essentially the digital SLR body equivalent to my EOS300 film camera. Whilst its not been an entirely smooth transition to shooting in digital, for sport photography its fantastic. The most recent set are presented on a seperate page as Germany 2007.
